Start with these checks
- Is it one device or everything? Try another computer. If you don’t have one, connect your phone to Wi-Fi and see whether the internet works on it.
- Check for an outage. Use our Highway outage page before opening the nbn checker.
- Restart your equipment. Turn off the modem and any separate nbn connection box at the power point for about 10 minutes. Turn them back on and allow several minutes to reconnect.
- Check the lights. Note which lights are on, off, flashing, orange or red before calling us.

Hints & tips
- Don’t press the modem’s recessed Reset button unless Highway asks you to—it may erase your settings.
- A working connection on Ethernet but not Wi-Fi usually points to a Wi-Fi problem, not an nbn outage.
- Keep a note of when dropouts happen and which lights change. That makes an intermittent fault much easier to trace.
