When the connection is working

The four lights labelled Power, Downstream, Upstream and Online should normally settle to solid green. They may flash while the box is starting or reconnecting.

Power

Solid green means the box has power.

Downstream

Solid green means the downstream channel has connected.

Upstream

Solid green means the upstream channel has connected.

Online

Solid green means the box is online with nbn.

If one or more lights keep flashing or stay off

  1. Check that the power cable is secure and the power point is switched on.
  2. Check the round coaxial cable at both the wall socket and the nbn box. It should be finger-tight, not loose.
  3. Check the Ethernet cable between the nbn box and your modem’s WAN or Internet port.
  4. Turn off both the nbn box and modem at the power point for about 10 minutes.
  5. Turn the nbn box on first. Wait for its lights to settle, then turn the modem back on.
Don’t unscrew or remove the wall plate, and don’t factory-reset your modem. If the Online light will not become solid after a restart, call Highway.

Hints & tips

  • After a power outage, the HFC box can take several minutes to reconnect.
  • If all four nbn-box lights are green but Wi-Fi still isn’t working, the issue may be with the modem or Wi-Fi rather than the nbn line.
  • Tell us exactly which light stops at flashing or remains off.
