FTTN vs FTTP
If your nbn connection still uses the old copper phone line to reach your home, you may be eligible to upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP).
FTTN uses fibre to a cabinet in your neighbourhood, then relies on the old copper phone line for the last part of the journey. With FTTP, that copper section is replaced and fibre runs all the way to your home.

BUT MY INTERNET WORKS FINE
If your current FTTN service does everything you need, you might wonder why you should change anything.
It’s not just about getting faster internet.
An FTTP upgrade replaces the copper section between the nbn network and your home with fibre. Fibre can support much higher speeds and isn’t affected by the length or condition of an old copper phone line in the same way.
So even if your current speed suits you perfectly well, it’s worth considering the upgrade while it’s available.
WE’LL TAKE CARE OF IT
You don’t need to contact nbn or work out how any of this works. If your address is eligible and you’d like to upgrade, tell us to go ahead and we’ll manage it for you.
We’ll confirm whether your premises is eligible and explain the plan options.
We’ll place the order and arrange the upgrade with nbn.
We’ll send your appointment details and explain what to expect before the technician arrives.
The technician installs the equipment needed to bring fibre to your premises.
Once FTTP is ready, we’ll help connect your modem and make sure the new service is working.
Your old connection can stay available during the changeover. We cancel it once you’re up and running on FTTP.
INSTALLATION DAY
An nbn technician will install the equipment needed to bring fibre into your premises. Before work begins, discuss the proposed equipment locations with the technician and make sure you’re happy with the plan.
Your modem will ultimately connect to the new nbn connection box, so its location matters. If you’re unsure about a proposed location, call us before agreeing to something you’re not happy with.
YOUR MODEM
Not necessarily. If your existing modem/router has a suitable Ethernet WAN port and can support your new service, you may be able to keep using it.
If you need new equipment—or if upgrading your Wi-Fi at the same time makes sense—we’ll tell you. No need to buy anything before speaking to us.
THE COST
For eligible premises, the standard FTTP upgrade is available at no installation cost when you move to an eligible nbn plan.
We’ll check your address and tell you exactly what’s available before you agree to anything.
